Players
The Stardew Valley Wiki – A modding guide for players.
SMAPI Mod compatibility – A searchable list of SMAPI mods and their current update status. This will also tell you if there’s an alternative or unofficial update to the mod you’re searching. This only lists info on SMAPI mods, not content packs for frameworks.
Stardew Valley Planner – This nifty tool allows you to plan out your farm and even has some modded farm maps available to use. V3 is up for testing now.
SDV Wiki: Modding:Player Guide/Key Bindings – A list of keyboards keys and their values used in SDV. Use this to change hotkeys.
Preventing Updates – Written to help those wanting to prevent auto updates on Steam, GOG, and Xbox. This was originally written for 1.6 but could come in handy if we ever get another one!
Intermediate Players
SDV Wiki: Modding:Community – Info on where to go to talk to others in the community. Remember to always read the rules of wherever you’re posting!
SDV Wiki: Modding:Mod compatibility – This may seem like a redundant resource since it’s pretty much the same info as the SMAPI Mod compatibility page listed in the Beginner section, but this page has links to the source for each mod as well, if available. Source pages often not only show the code of the mod, but will sometimes contain further documentation (say for making a content pack if it’s a framework). Usually, you will also be able to find a link to the source of a mod on it’s Nexus page.
SDV Forums: Unofficial Mod Updates – This is a forum where people can request updates to old mods that aren’t supported anymore. Make sure to read Pathoschild’s 1st post on the 1st page which explains how the forum works.
Stardew Valley – Event Modding Resource – This is a resource that includes the game IDs for sounds, music, items, events, and a lot more. Useful if you need the item id number of something you would rather see in a store or for customizing the sound effect of an object, things like that. I am not sure if this will be updated to include 1.6 items or not. Use the Stardew Vanilla IDs link below instead.
JSON for Beginners – a quick overview of some of the basics of the JSON format. This is the language all those .json files you see in your mod folders are written in.
RGB Color Picker – Just a color picker that gives you the numerical values for RGB. Can come in handy for some mods that allow this type of customization.
Furniture Converter – Tool that will convert Custom Furniture items to CP for 1.6 or DGA for 1.5.
Stardew Valley Character Creator – For those who would like to make portraits for their farmer but need a bit of help. This ‘game’ is pretty much a character creator but for portraits.
Stardew Valley Vanilla IDs – Updated for 1.6! A tool developed by Mateus Aquino to help find item IDs.
Budding Mod Authors

Apps
Applications to make your modding life easier.
StardewXNBHack – Tool that unpacks the game’s XNB (images, maps, etc.) files.
ILSpy – Tool that decompiles the game’s code.
Piskel – For those who just want a quick way to edit or create sprites, Piskel is 100% free and can be used in your browser window or downloaded. Please be aware that this app does have it’s limitations and opening a full portrait sprite sheet in it gave me performance warnings.
Aseprite – My personal recommendation for pixel art. This one does cost $19.99 (unless you want to take a shot at decompiling yourself) but it’s worth the money in my opinion.
Krita – Free and fabulous. I use this in combination with Aseprite. Basically, if Aseprite can’t do it, I use Krita to fill in the gaps.
NCH Audio Converter – Will batch convert .ogg into .wav and a lot of other stuff, too.
